Thy Kingdom Connected

All week I’ve been tucked away at our cabin in Bellingham.  As I’m making final edits to a manuscript for Baker Books.  The book will be titled, Thy Kingdom Connected: What the Church Can Learn from Facebook, the Internet and Other Networks

Well, yesterday as I was working on the book and enjoying a cigar (as I’m prone to do), it was snowing so I moved into the garage.  And a reporter from the Bellingham Herald happened by.  The photo the reporter took made it into the online version.

philbert kalisa

Last night in during Essential Community (a course I team-teach at MHGS) we were privileged to have Philbert Kalisa (pictured in the white shirt) from Rwanda join us.  In the wake of the Rwanda’s genocide in the 1990s Philbert sensed something of a divine invitation to explore ways of participating in the reconcilation and peace building process between both victims and perpetrators in Rwanda. He told story after story people choosing recilcation over hatred.  Rev. Philbert has formed an organization called Reach . . . definiately worth checking out.

vox veniae - austin, tx

I just returned from weekend retreat with a vox veniae in the happening town of austin.  Thanks Sam, Gid, Kevin and the whole crew for such a great time. Together we explored the concept of living as a glocal parish.

I’ll tell ya, after a weekend of retreating and non-stop eating & pipe smoking, I think it may be time to reconsider my diet.  In addition to great food at the retreat I got my feed on at Rudy’s, Hoover’s, Trudy’s and even at Sonic - my first time :-)

vox veniae & the global parish

I ‘m getting ready to head down to Austin, TX to hang out with my friend Sam Lee (MHGS graduate) and his faith community, Vox Veniae for their annual retreat.  We’ll be exploring “The Global Parish;” as Vox has entered into a couple of interncational partnerships and are exploring ways of missionally extending their service.  I’m so looking forward to seeing Sam and meeting the community he’s doing life with.

emergent village - keeps emerging

Emergent Village continues to emerge as social network of conversationally engaged, missionally minded communities/people of faith.  Check out the statement from EV and listen to a pod cast of some of the EV board members talking about the move to an even flatter network model

check it out.
